Named after the fortress like walls that the water tumbles over and under. This waterfall is on a very small stream and is best seen after a lot of rain.
Driving Directions
From Kershaw, South Carolina. From the intersection of US-601, head north on US-521 BUS for 0.7 mile and merge onto US-521. Drive 3.8 miles and turn left onto Horton Rollins Road. Drive 1.2 miles and turn right onto Hanging Rock Road. Drive 0.8 mile and turn left onto a blocked off road and park. Do not block the private property gate.
From Lancaster, South Carolina. From the intersection of US-521 BUS, head south on US-521 for 8.3 miles and continue straight onto Flat Rock Road. Drive 1.7 miles and turn left onto Hanging Rock Road. Drive 0.8 miles and and turn right onto a blocked off road and park. Do not block the private property gate.
